K9 Trace has been a member of the Fairfield Police Department since August 2023, and is handled by Officer Alan Bakula.

Officer Bakula is currently working in Patrol and in addition to being a member of the K-9 unit, is also a field training officer, Honor Guard member and part of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). He has been a member of the Fairfield Police Department since Jan of 2021. Officer Bakula is also a 2 time combat wounded veteran with over 10 deployments with the both the US Army and various other classified programs with the US gov.

K9 Trace is an 85 pound Belgian Malinois that is specially trained in tracking, apprehension and firearms detection. K9 Trace and Officer Bakula make a great team and are dedicated to serving the town of Fairfield as well as the surrounding areas by taking illegal firearms off the streets.
