Individuals wanting to apply for a State of Connecticut Pistol Permit can either pick up an application at the Fairfield Police Department (24/7) or download one from the link below. Please be sure to follow the application instructions included with the packet.
You will need to complete the application and return it to the Fairfield Police Department along with the following items:
Once the application is completed, it should be taken to the Fairfield Police Department, 100 Reef Road, ONLY during the following hours:
Tuesday and Thursday 1pm - 5pm - OR - Saturday 9am - 12 noon.
If your documents are in order, you will be fingerprinted at the time of submission, which will conclude the application process. Applicants should be aware that the review process is approximately 8 weeks long.
If approved, applicant will receive a Temporary State Pistol Permit which can be redeemed for a full permit at any Connecticut State Police Barracks. |

Town of Fairfield ordinance 99-2 states "no person shall engage in business as a transient merchant within the Town unless he shall have a transient merchant's license issued by the Chief of Police.
Transient Merchant: Any person who, as principal or agent, either goes from place to place or occupies a roadside or outside stand or booth, including a vehicle from which sales are made, selling or offering for sale any goods, wares or merchandise for purchase for immediate or future delivery, which shall include any offer to sell or offer of any printed material and sales of or contracts for sales of services to be performed within the Town of Fairfield.
The following are exempt from the above definition:
farmer or gardner selling the produce from his own farm or garden.persons engaged in the sale ,distribution and delivery of milk, tea, coffee, spices, groceries, meats, bakery goods or newspapers.salesmen selling goods to retail or wholesale establishments within the Town for resale.salesmen taking orders for merchandise for future delivery when full payment is not required when the order is solicitedregularly scheduled route salesmen.vendors at fairs on Town or Board of Education property.any person engaged in the selling of goods and services on behalf or under the authority of any charitable or nonprofit organization having a Connecticut office or registered with the Secretary of State of Connecticut.persons requested to call upon a private residence by the owner or occupant thereof.

Persons wishing to engage in businesses defined as transient merchant must complete an application available at the Fairfield Police Department. Applicants must possess a valid State of Connecticut Sales Tax number. The fees for a transient merchant permit are listed below.

Questions regarding transient merchant permits should be directed to the Fairfield Police Department Detective Division (203) 254-4840. Penalties for violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, or making any false statement, or misrepresentation of fact, for the purpose of obtaining permission to solicit orders shall, upon conviction thereof, and in addition to other penalties provided by law, be subject to a fine not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), each solicitation or sale being deemed a separate offense. Persons engages in any of the activities listed under the definition of transient merchant shall conform to the following regulations:
