Car Seat Safety & Installation

About the Program

The Fairfield Police Department is dedicated to providing the public with information pertaining to the safety of child passengers in vehicles.  Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will demonstrate and explain to caregivers about the proper selection, installation and use of car seats, booster seats and proper use of seat belts.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old.  These deaths and injuries can often be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts. According to Connecticut State Law, all children are required to ride in an approved child safety seat until they are 7 years old and 60 lbs.

The Fairfield Police Department reminds all citizens that properly restraining their children while riding in vehicles is an everyday, year-round responsibility.
