Lieutenant Matthew Riendeau has been a member of the Fairfield Police Department since 2009. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry Machine Gunner. During that time he deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was honorably discharged in 2009.
He served in the patrol division for 6 years. As a patrol officer he was assigned to several special assignments, which included Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Emergency Services Unit and Bicycle Unit.
In 2016, he was promoted to Sergeant and spent 3 years as a supervisor in the patrol division. In 2019 he was assigned to the Investigative Division as a Detective Sergeant. In addition to his responsibilities as a Detective Sergeant, he supervised the Department’s Quality of Life Unit. He is also a Emergency Services Unit Team Leader and a Firearms and Tactics Instructor.
Lieutenant Riendeau has received numerous letters of recognition, commendation, and other awards.
