FAIRFIELD – At 5:13 pm on 5/20/21 the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a radio transmission from Fairfield Fire Chief Dennis McCarthy that a motor vehicle collision had just occurred at the intersection of Stillson Road and Fairfield Woods Road.
Fairfield Police Crash Reconstructionists arrived on scene and were able to determine that a grey 2019 Ford Escape had been traveling east on Stillson Road when it failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Fairfield Woods Road. The Ford then collided head on with a red 2016 Mazda CX5 that had been traveling south on Fairfield Woods Road and was beginning its left turn onto Stillson Road. After this head-on impact, the Ford Escape swung clockwise and was re-directed north where it came to rest in the front yard of a Fairfield Woods Road home, crushing the mailbox and post. After impact, the Mazda swung counter clockwise and came to rest in the east bound lane of Fairfield Woods Road. The front ends to both vehicles were ripped away causing a massive debris field.
The male operator of the Mazda sustained abdominal injuries, bruising and abrasions as a result of the crash. He was treated on scene and sought medical attention at Bridgeport Hospital.
The male operator of the Ford was treated on scene experiencing an unknown medical condition which may have been a contributing factor of the collision. The front seat passenger suffered a head laceration. Both were transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center.
This Crash remains under investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
