Subject Injured Attempting to Stop Larceny in Progress

On Monday 09/25/17 at 4:40pm, the Fairfield Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a customer at Bed Bath & Beyond who stated that she just exited the store and found a man lying in the parking lot, bleeding from his head screaming for help.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the victim, who works in a nearby business, was walking to his vehicle at the end of his workday and noticed someone inside of it. Realizing the suspect was committing a larceny, the victim confronted him. The suspect exited the victim’s car and got into what was described as a black Ford F-250 pickup truck with NY registration plates and attempted to flee the scene. The victim grabbed on to the moving truck and was thrown to the ground and struck by the fleeing suspect vehicle. Patrols searched the area for the suspect vehicle but were unable to locate it.

The vehicle was last seen by a witness traveling eastbound on Kings Hwy East towards Grasmere Avenue.

The victim was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by AMR for serious but non-life threatening injuries to both lower legs.

Anyone with information regarding this vehicle or the suspect involved in the theft is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department (203)254-4808, or Text-a-Tip to CRIMES (274637).
