Officer of the Quarter: October 15, 2021 – January 14, 2022



On October 13, 2021, Officer Douglas Katz was recognized as the next Officer of the Quarter by the Fairfield Board of Police Commisioners. ⠀

On September 7, 2021, the Lieutenants and Sergeants of the Patrol Division met and after careful deliberation, unanimously selected Officer Douglas Katz as Officer of the Quarter (OOQ) for the period of October 15, 2021 through January 14, 2022. ⠀

Officer Katz fully embraces, supports and furthers our department mission to Make Fairfield Safer! He is described by his supervisors as reliable, helpful and dependable with an outstanding attitude! Officer Katz is always willing to accept criticism and has a strong desire to improve and learn. He is amongst the first to step up to assist his colleagues on his shift, which is just one example of his hard work ethic and initiative to this profession. ⠀

Office Katz was also recognized for making 9 criminal arrests during the previous quarter along with 13 motor vehicle arrests as well as a number of infraction and misdemeanor citations.⠀

Officer Katz also played a critical role in designing and implementing the Department’s new patch which symbolizes our department’s dedication to serving the Fairfield community and our commitment to being a 21st century, forward-thinking and inclusive police agency.⠀

The Officer of the Quarter program is in place to recognize officers who understand, embrace, support, and further the Fairfield Police Department’s mission to “Make Fairfield Safer”. Certain character traits have been identified by the supervisory staff as being critically important to carrying out our mission. These character traits include, but are not limited to, Attitude, Personality, Initiative, Fitness, Professional Appearance, and Job Proficiency.⠀
