Residential Burglaries on Jackman Ave, 1/18/2020

On Saturday, January 18, 2020, the Fairfield Police Department responded to two (2) reported burglaries on Jackman Avenue, Fairfield.

On 1/18/2020 at approximately 1:22 PM, the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call from a resident in the 300 block of Jackman Avenue reporting a burglary had occurred at the residence between 12:25 PM and 1:22 PM.  This resident discovered a basement window pushed in and the rear door to the residence open.  The residents noticed items moved inside the home and dresser drawers rummaged through.  Blood droplets were located throughout the home.  Samples were taken for DNA analysis.

On 1/18/2020 at approximately 2:01 PM, a report of another Burglary was received from a resident in the 100 block of Jackman Avenue.  The resident reported that approximately one hour prior to their call, they heard a noise in their basement.  The resident opened the basement door and observed an unknown male standing on the stairs.  The resident then closed and locked the door and contacted family to report the incident, however, due to a miscommunication, the police were not contacted until later.  Further investigation revealed that a basement window was forced open and the glass shattered.  Blood droplets were located in the home and samples were taken for analysis.

No suspects were located at either residence or in the immediate area after a thorough search.

Officers conducting a neighborhood canvas, spoke with another Jackman Avenue resident who stated that at approximately 12:30 PM they observed a white male acting suspicious in the 100 block of Jackman Avenue.  This witness stated that the subject was wearing a dark purplish coat, had dark hair with possibly a pony tail and was wearing light framed eye glasses. The subject was further described as approximately 5’9” to 5’10” in height with a skinny build.

Investigators believe that the same suspect is responsible for both burglaries.

The Fairfield Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating these incidents.  Anyone with information on the identity of the subject or anyone that may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detectives.  In addition, residents with video surveillance of the area are asked to review their footage and contact Detectives in the event the recordings contain any related footage.
