Residents Urged to Lock Vehicles after Theft of Car from Stratfield Area Condo

FAIRFIELD — On Sunday, February 28, 2022, one vehicle was stolen and other attempt was made by unknown subject(s) in the Stratfield Village area of Fairfield

On 02/28/21 at 10:27 am, a Jackman Avenue resident observed a black 4 door vehicle pull up in front of her neighbor’s residence. She then observed a passenger exit the vehicle and walk down the neighbor’s driveway to pull on the door handle to a grey Jeep Cherokee that was running via remote start. When the door did not open, the subject walked back to the black 4 door vehicle, entered it and the vehicle fled the scene towards Stratfield Road. The complainant described this individual as a short teenager wearing black jogging pants and a camo hoodie.

Later that same morning, at 10:34 am, the Police received a 911 call reporting that a vehicle was just stolen from the 1400 block of Melville Avenue. A black 2017 Audi Q3 was stolen from the parking lot of the Dogwood Green Condos. The Audi was last seen by its owner exiting the parking lot onto Melville Avenue. There is no description of the suspect(s) at this time. The vehicle was left running and unlocked with the keys inside at the time it was stolen.

Police are investigating both incidents and the possible connection between the two.

We kindly, but in the strongest terms possible, urge residents to not leave your vehicles running unattended and to get in the habit of locking your vehicle every time you walk away from it…even at home.
