Domestic Homicide Investigation

On February 3, 2019 at 9:23 PM the Fairfield Police Department received a 911 call from 54 Catamount Road reporting what was believed to be a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived on scene to find a serious domestic assault had occurred inside the home and the suspect was quickly taken into custody.  During the initial investigation Officers located a female victim deceased on the scene.

It was later determined that the male suspect, identified as James Taylor (DOB 5/4/43) forced entry into the home with a firearm and shot the victim.  The victim’s adult son was inside the residence and heard the disturbance.  A struggle ensued between the victim’s son and Taylor. Police arrived shortly after and took James Taylor into custody without further incident.

James C. Taylor (DOB 5/4/43) of Redding Road, Fairfield, was charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Home invasion, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm.  He was held on a $1,000,000 bond and is being transported to Bridgeport Superior Court this morning for arraignment.

The investigation has revealed this to be an isolated domestic incident and there is no threat to the public.

This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau.

Information on the victim is expected to be released later today.
