On October 23, 2018, Fairfield Police responded to a complaint of a male exposing himself in his car to a female pedestrian. The incident happened in the area of Old Post Road and South Benson Road. The victim, a juvenile, gave responding officers an accurate description of the suspect and the vehicle that he was driving. Follow up investigation by the Detective Bureau revealed the identity of the male to be David Sharpe (DOB 5/08/1989) of Fairfield. It was later revealed that David Sharpe was a girls’ soccer coach for Staples High School, from which he resigned after his interview with Detectives.
On December 1, 2018, David Sharpe was arrested on a warrant at Fairfield Police Headquarters for Public Indecency and Breach of Peace. Sharpe was later released on a PTA and scheduled to appear in court on 12/13/2018.
This case may be related to a similar incident that occurred in Norwalk on 09/26/2018 to which a second victim was identified. Norwalk PD and Fairfield PD are coordinating their investigations for the possibility of additional charges.
