Stolen Motor Vehicle, 5/1/18

On 05/01/2018 at 2:58am a complainant from Mill Plain Road called to report several suspicious males in dark clothing walking up and down her neighbor’s driveways attempting to enter their cars. The complainant was able to provide real-time observations to the officers responding that her neighbor’s vehicle was now backing out of the driveway and she believed it was being stolen.

Officers quickly located the vehicle near Mill Plain Road and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The suspects engaged officers in pursuit for a short time before officers were successfully able to deploy spike-strips in attempt to stop the pursuit. The vehicle continued southbound on Tunxis Hill Road before failing to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Kings Highway East and striking a utility pole. The operator fled on foot and was taken into custody near the collision scene. The passenger remained in the vehicle and was extricated by Fairfield Fire Department.

Both suspects were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. It was later determined that both suspects were 17 year old, juvenile males, from Bridgeport.

The driver was charged with Larceny 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1st Degree, Burglary 3rd, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 3rd, Criminal attempt to Commit Larceny 6th Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6th, Engaging Police in Pursuit, Reckless Driving, and Operating Under a Suspended license. He was issued a Juvenile Summons to appear in juvenile court on May 15th 2018.

The passenger was charged with Larceny 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1st Degree, Burglary 3rd, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 3rd, Criminal attempt to Commit Larceny 6th Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6th. He was issued a Juvenile Summons to appear in juvenile court on May 15th 2018.
