OFFICER OF THE QUARTER | APRIL 15, 2021 – JULY 14, 2021:

OFFICER JOHN MCGRATH

On March 8, 2021, the Lieutenants and Sergeants of the Patrol Division met and after careful deliberation, unanimously selected Officer John McGrath as Officer of the Quarter (OOQ) for the period of April 15th, 2021 through July 14, 2021.

Officer John McGrath, an 11 year member of the Fairfield Police Department, has demonstrated a persistent demeanor, matched by a confident ability to coach and mentor new officers in the capacity of a Field Training Officer, along with a strong work ethic, initiative, investigative approach, judgment, reliability, and professionalism. Officer McGrath sets an example for others to follow, and has earned the confidence and trust of all of his supervisors. Some of Officer McGrath’s most recent accomplishments include the self-initiated arrest of the operator of a stolen motor vehicle, several warrant arrests, and numerous involved investigations resulting in arrest warrants being issued. His hard work and dedication reflect a great credit upon himself, our profession, and the Fairfield Police Department.

The Officer of the Quarter program is in place to recognize officers who understand, embrace, support, and further the Fairfield Police Department’s mission to “Make Fairfield Safer”. Certain character traits have been identified by the supervisory staff as being critically important to carrying out our mission. These character traits include, but are not limited to, Attitude, Personality, Initiative, Fitness, Professional Appearance, and Job Proficiency.
